Mentor & Educator
Montreal Cain’s commitment to youth development is rooted in decades of mentorship, teaching, and hands‑on leadership. From founding the Milwaukee Marshall High School West Wing Special Education Drumline to coaching students across Milwaukee Public Schools, his work has consistently centered on creating inclusive spaces where young people can thrive. His early start — recording his first album at 13 with the Youth Leadership Academy and touring nationally — became the foundation for a lifelong dedication to helping young people discover their own gifts.
Mental Health & Wellness Advocate
Montreal’s advocacy extends deeply into mental health, trauma‑informed practice, and community healing. His leadership with MERA CARES, MERA Moms, and the Milwaukee County Mental Health Task Force reflects a commitment to ensuring families, youth, and communities have access to compassionate, culturally grounded support. His work in public health messaging, early cancer screening awareness, and crisis‑response efforts has positioned him as a trusted voice in Milwaukee’s wellness landscape.
Community Leadership & Civic Advocacy
Montreal’s community impact spans education reform, public safety, youth empowerment, and emergency response. His leadership during the August 2025 flood, his coordination of KingsFest, and his advocacy for equitable funding in Milwaukee Public Schools demonstrate a deep commitment to systemic change. His work has been honored with recognitions including the Red Cross Brave Heart Award, the Unity Black Excellence Awards (2026), the Milwaukee Turners Liberty Against All Oppression Award, the Opulence Award, and the Do Good Wisconsin Unsung Hero Award — each reflecting the breadth of his service.
Creativity, Arts & Cultural Innovation
Montreal Cain’s creative journey began at age three in the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club Choir. By eight, he was studying drum set and music theory, and at 15, he expanded into congas and bongos while attending the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music on a Jazz Combo scholarship. When funding for arts programs was cut in 2022, he became both captain and coach of his high school drumline — and founded the All‑Star Drumline, uniting more than five MPS drumlines to perform as the first official drumline for the Milwaukee Wave National Soccer Team.
His artistry continued to evolve: advancing through six rounds of American Idol and earning a Golden Ticket to Hollywood, scoring short films, collaborating with Wyclef Jean and the Wavy Gang, contributing to the Jimmy A. Banks documentary, and providing sound for the Amazon Prime film Disconnection Notice. In 2026, he won Stepping With the Stars, helping raise over $150,000 for cancer research and awareness. His creative leadership reflects a lifelong commitment to using art as a vehicle for empowerment, storytelling, and community transformation.
